About Inside Schizophrenia

Inside Schizophrenia is a small, independent blog about the ordinary health questions that turn up between appointments. Which toothbrush to buy and when to bin it. What the small print on a pharmacy sticker means. How to air out a flat that still smells of cigarettes. How to keep a record of a pregnancy that you will actually want to reread. None of these feel big enough to book a consultation for, yet they shape daily life far more than the rare dramatic moments.

We write those answers down in plain language, check them against public guidance, and point you to a dentist, pharmacist or doctor whenever a question needs someone who can see you in person.

What you will find here

  • Oral care. Brushing, breath, toothbrushes, braces and the public side of dentistry, for example our look at how dentists shape community health.
  • Smoke-free choices. Balanced reading for adult smokers weighing up alternatives, and practical help for keeping a home free of smoke.
  • Pharmacy and clinic visits. How to get more out of a short conversation at the counter, starting with reading a prescription label.
  • Pregnancy and family. Gentle, everyday pieces rather than medical instructions.
  • Wellbeing and self-image. How marketing and social media talk to us about our bodies, and how to read that critically.

You can see the full list on The Subjects We Cover, or begin with the reading order on Start With the Basics.

Who writes it

The articles come from a small group of writers who publish under pen names. We are curious, careful readers of health guidance, not clinicians. You will not find invented titles, white coats or claims of expertise on this site, because we do not have them and you deserve to know that. What we offer instead is time: time to read the official advice, compare it, and turn it into something you can use on a Tuesday evening.

If you want to know more about how a page gets from idea to publication, read The People Behind These Leaflets.

What we will not do

  • We do not diagnose, recommend treatments or suggest doses.
  • We do not promise cures or quote figures we cannot trace.
  • We do not sell supplements, devices or consultations.
  • We do not collect your health information.

The longer version of those limits sits on About Our Health Articles. It is worth reading once, especially before you act on anything you read here.

Keeping pages current

Health guidance changes, product ranges change and pharmacies change how they do things. We reread older articles and update them when something has moved on, and we are always glad when a reader spots something before we do.

Say hello

Questions, corrections and topic ideas are all welcome. The Get in Touch page explains the simplest way to reach the team, and Ask Us Anything collects the questions readers send most often.

Why this blog exists

The questions between appointments

Most health worries are small and practical, and they turn up on an ordinary evening when no clinic is open. That is the gap we write for.

We keep each article short enough to finish, honest about its limits and clear about who to ask next.

What guides our writing

Ideas we come back to

  • A routine you repeat twice a day deserves five minutes of attention once a year.

  • Knowing who to ask is half of good health information.

  • Honest limits are more useful than confident guesses.

  • Every home and every mouth is different, so general advice stays general.
