How We Handle Data

This page explains what happens to information about you when you read Inside Schizophrenia. In brief, almost nothing happens to it. Each article and page reaches you as a finished file, assembled before you ever arrive. There are no accounts to create, no comment forms, no newsletter sign-up, no advertising and no analytics or tracking scripts.

Who is responsible

Inside Schizophrenia is run by a small independent team. For anything to do with your data, write to mail@insideschizophrenia.com. That address reaches the people who run the site directly.

What we do not collect

• We do not use analytics tools, visitor counters or heatmaps.
• We do not show adverts and do not work with ad networks.
• We do not embed social media widgets, tracking pixels or third-party fonts that report on your visit.
• We do not ask for, store or process any health information about you.

Your cookie banner choice

When you first visit, a small notice asks whether you accept or decline optional cookies. Because the site does not use any optional cookies, the answer changes nothing about tracking; it simply stops the notice from coming back. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is never sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings. Server logs

Like almost every website, the pages are delivered by a hosting provider. To keep the service running and secure, the provider's servers automatically record basic technical details of each request, such as the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser type and whether the request succeeded. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting, are kept for a limited period by the provider, and are not combined with any other data or used by us to identify visitors.

This logging rests on a legitimate interest: keeping the site online and protected against misuse.

When you email us

An email to us arrives with your address, any name you sign with and the text you wrote. We use this only to read and answer your email. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your message with anyone else. Please do not send personal medical details; we do not need them to reply, and we cannot give individual advice.

We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for the conversation, and delete it after that unless it relates to a correction we need to document.

Your rights

The GDPR, and comparable privacy laws elsewhere, give you the following rights over any personal data we hold:

• find out whether we hold any personal data about you, and see it;
• ask us to correct data that is wrong;
• ask us to delete your data;
• have us pause or narrow what we do with it, or object to it;
• receive a copy of data you gave us in a portable format;
• lodge a complaint with the data protection regulator where you live.

To use any of these rights, email the address above. We will answer within one month.

Some articles mention other organisations or link to other websites. Once you leave this site, the other website's own privacy policy applies.

Changes

If the way the site works changes, for example if we ever add a feature that handles personal data, we will update this page first and change the date above.
